The Smy stands as a distinctive commercial villa in Seminyak, Bali, embodying the essence of Tropical Modern style while preserving the unmistakable Balinese characteristics. Commissioned in 2010, this villa spans an area of 650 sqm and is a vibrant testament to the fusion of modernity and Bali's unique charm.
The client's vision for The Smy was to create a Tropical Modern haven that embraced the lively spirit of Bali. A key emphasis was placed on infusing each space with a colorful and cheerful ambiance, ensuring eye-catching elements throughout.
The architectural and interior design consultancy extended beyond structural considerations to include a meticulous selection of colors, interior finishes, linens, and materials. The exterior columns are clad in small Palimanan stone sections, each measuring 10 cm in width, reassembled to form a captivating column cladding. Local stone, specifically Singaraja slate, was employed, cut to precise sizes to achieve the desired aesthetic.
Encompassing approximately 420 sqm, The Smy features four bedrooms, each equipped with an ensuite bathroom. The main building spans two floors, while the living room, with internal views of the garden and swimming pool, occupies a single floor.
A distinctive feature of this villa is the semi-outdoor Jacuzzi designed to accommodate six individuals, catering to the frequent gatherings and cocktail parties hosted by the residents. Considering the proximity of neighboring villas, a carefully crafted water feature was introduced to generate a soothing ambient noise, effectively mitigating external sounds within The Smy and its surroundings.
The Smy not only stands as an architectural masterpiece but also as a vibrant, inviting space where modern design meets the rich tapestry of Balinese culture.
